OCIA

OCIA – Order of Christian Initiation (formerly called RCIA)

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA), formerly known as RCIA, is a structured process for adults to explore the Catholic faith and become members of the Church. OCIA is open to those who have not been baptized, those who have been baptized in another Christian tradition, and even Catholics seeking to deepen their faith and receive the sacraments of confirmation and eucharist.

Here’s a breakdown of what OCIA involves:

Inquiry: This initial stage involves exploring questions about our faith and the Church.

Preparation: Participants engage in discussions, prayer, scripture study, and other activities to learn about Catholic teachings and traditions.

Enlightenment: This phase focuses on deeper understanding of the Catholic faith and the sacraments.

Reception: Participants receive the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist) at the Easter Vigil.

Mission: After becoming members of the Church, participants are encouraged to continue growing in their faith and participating in the life of the community.

OCIA is more than just a program; it’s a journey of spiritual growth and a way to deepen one’s relationship with God. It’s a time for discernment, learning, and forming new relationships within the Catholic Church.

Our Parish OCIA Program will begin again this September 2025. Please contact Monica Wodke, OCIA Coordinator, for more information:  mwodke@yahoo.com or 773-814-6116.

OCIA PROGRAM BEGINS SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 2025 AT 11:30 AM IN THE PARISH CENTER!
